Hiring a motorbike whilst on holiday can be great fun and allows you greater access to places where cars cannot go. Do remember that you'll be travelling on unfamiliar roads so take that extra bit care and avoid becoming a casualty. If you own a bike at home try and get the same model over here, at least you will know its features and handling. As with car hire, always check the bike out before hiring and agree any damage with the company, and get this in writing. Check the tyres and headlamps especially as these are areas which seem to sustain most damage. If suspect get these seen to before hiring, the roads out of town are not well lit and some road surfaces are variable and good grip through tyres is essential. Always wear a safety helmet and protective riding clothes. These will protect you in the event of an accident or falling off. You will require a full license to hire a motorbike on the Canaries.
